Configure your firm's AI provider, default export format, VAT defaults, and email ingest short name.

AI provider configuration

luca supports several AI providers for receipt extraction. Choose one in Settings → AI provider:

  • Platform managed — luca handles the AI provider for you. No API key required. Counted against your plan's receipt limit.
  • Anthropic Claude — bring your own Claude API key. Highest accuracy on complex receipts and PDFs.
  • OpenAI GPT-4o — bring your own OpenAI API key. Strong performance with native PDF support.
  • Google Gemini — bring your own Google AI API key. Cost-effective for high volume.
  • Ollama (self-hosted) — point luca at your own Ollama instance running a local vision model. No data leaves your network. Image-only.

Providing your own API key

Choose a provider and paste your API key. Keys are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM and never exposed in API responses or logs. You can update or remove your key at any time.

Tip: When you bring your own API key, luca's plan limits no longer apply — you pay your AI provider directly for usage. This is the path for high-volume practices.

Testing your AI provider

After saving a key, click Test connection. luca sends a small test request to the provider to verify the key works and the chosen model is reachable. You'll see the response within a few seconds.

Default export format

Choose the export format your firm uses most often. This is the default whenever you click Export. You can override per client or per export.

VAT scheme defaults

Set your default VAT scheme (standard, cash, flat rate) and jurisdiction (UK, Ireland). New clients inherit these defaults but can be configured individually.

Firm short name (email ingest)

Your firm's short name is the part after the dot in every client's ingest address. See the email ingest guide for full details. Choose carefully — it should be short, memorable, and distinct.

Security and account

From Settings you can change your password, enable additional security options, and delete your account. Account deletion follows the privacy policy: data is removed within 30 days of the request.
